Mohammad Moddaber is another of the great Iranian painters and one of the pioneers in the field of coffeehouse painting. When he was seven years old, Moddaber lost his father and became an orphan. In adulthood, Ostad Moddaber was always impatient and secluded himself from artistic gatherings, avoiding the company of his fellow painters. However, his reclusive nature did little to diminish the overwhelming respect he enjoyed among artists of the coffeehouse tradition. In fact, to a certain extent Moddaber's individuality as an artist went on to define the individuality of the coffeehouse school itself.
